LIGHTSHINE

Greetings Sunshine. Well...we have session number two under our collective belts...and so far...so good. After a quick review from last session we plowed into the book with salivating anticipation of the bread of the Word.

We recalled in our last episode that (1) the word know appears approximately 39 times in 5 short chapters
(2) knowing means to take in knowledge, to come to know, recognize, understand, to understand completely of what we have seen or perceived. (3) The Word of Life=Jesus (4) We must have the personal touch where we hear, see, behold, and touch Jesus (5) fellowship= koinonia=koine (common), communion, sharing, communication (6) completed joy= koinoinia/fellowship with (a) Jesus (b) The Father (c) us (d) you=the completed koinonia circuit.

In todays session we shedded a little light on...LIGHT. Light is from the greek word phos=to shine or make manifest, especially by rays, liminousness, fire, light. This is in contrast to darkness which is skotos= a shadiness, obscurity, dimness. We saw that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship...and walk in darkness...we lie and do not practice the truth.

Jesus is in the light...and is found clean. We are to be in the light...but we are not found clean...so we must confess, repent, apply the blood of Jesus so that we can be cleansed from all unrighteousness. In Him we are clean...outside of Him we are not clean. By Jesus we go from a Romans 3:10 mentality to a II Corinthians 5:21 mentality...we go from there is NONE rightesous NO not ONE...to we ARE the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God IN CHRIST. The first step...is to identify what we are by the light...and then correct that in Him.

Well...until next time....keep on KNOWING....

THE KNOWING FACTOR

Hey fellow chewers of the Cud. We have started the new session of the Ruminators with The First Epistle of John (A Study of KNOWING).

If you circle all of the KNOW words in the epistle you will come up with 39 references to the word KNOW. You kind of get the idea that God wants you to KNOW something.

The word know has a few different meanings in the Greek language. In the Ist Epistle of John there are two references throughout...

(1) ginosko=signifies to be taking in KNOWLEDGE, to come to KNOW, recognize, understand, or to understand completely.

(2) oida=to have seen or perceived; hence to KNOW, to have knowledge of.

In the NT it frequently indicates a relation between the person "knowing" and the object known; in this respect what is "known" is of value or importance to the one who "knows" and hence the establishement of the relationship.

DIFFERENCE: (a) ginosko suggests inception or progress in knowledge (b) oida suggest fullness of knowledge

NOTE: Thanx and a tip O' da hat to Strongs Concordance and Vine's Lexicon of Old and New Testament words for helping to define KNOW.

The first chapter of the 1st Epistle of John is what I calle the Pre-requisite to knowing. It is all tied to your realtionship to God...through Jesus Christ. Sin puts a crimp in you knowing...and must be brought to light... and once brought to light...must be dealt with. The idea of the four part fellowship between (1) The Father (2) Jesus (3) You (4) Us...is the key to completed joy.

Light, Confession, the Blood of Jesus postitions us to KNOW.

If you would like a workbook let me know. They cost me $5.00 to print plus shipping if mailed.
